"Stomatol
- the only way to obtain healthy and strong teeth!" The
toothpaste brand Stomatol was during the first half of the
1900s, one of the Swedish brands that used media and, thus,
could be seen the most. There were ads and commercials for
Stomatol in the press and on film, as well as on enamel and
neon signs. The famous sign for Stomatol at Slussen in Stockholm
was, to begin with, placed on the elevator Katarinahissen.
In fact, it can still be seen in the vicinity.
Stomatol
was probably the brand that was advertised most in commercial
film. About ten of the commercials, cut into the montage in
the sequence to the left, were drawn by Arvid Olson and Victor
Bergdahl, the latter well known for his character Captain
Grogg. Some of the commercials are talkies, others are silent;
all of them were produced around 1930.
